Facing multiple iconic villains like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard, their strength and resolve will be tested as they face these dangerous threats. After watching the latest PlayStation Showcase conference, I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, Sony showed some really exciting games; on the other, their release dates are either distant, or totally unspecified. There will be no shortage of games to play in January, but don’t count on any spectacular launches.

The game sold over 2.5 million units in 24 hours and over five million in 11 days, becoming PlayStation’s fastest selling first-party title. The first Spider-Man game from Insomniac received numerous DLCs post-launch. Multiple characters and stories within Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 likewise seemed to be setting up DLC, particularly the storyline involving Carnage. Because of this, many fans speculated over what would be in store for Peter Parker and Miles Morales when Spider-Man 2 DLC finally arrived.

Now, you’ll have access to 78 suits with unique costumes for both Peter and Miles. A bird’s-eye assessment reveals Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) to have a more story-focused gameplay narrative compared to the sequel. It incorporates unexpected twists and turns that take you by surprise and really invest your attention and emotion in the narrative. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023) is more action-focused, so much so that the cutscenes can feel like a drag. It doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing; rather, it develops a quench of thirst whenever the next action sequence cues in. These specs will let you run the game at 720p with 30 FPS using the Very Low graphics preset.

New factions and units, such as flamethrower-wielding cultists that keep you at a distance, flying drones, and hunters who deploy laser grids above your head to limit aerial attacks keep you on your sticky toes. Certain enemies are weak to different types of abilities, such as electric or symbiote attacks, which also adds an enjoyable extra wrinkle to fights. It’s by no means revolutionary stuff, but a welcome added level of complexity that makes you consider which powers – or even which Spider-Man – are best for a given job. The result is a cinematic but messy experience that not only still bears all the same flaws as its predecessor, but in many areas—particularly the storytelling—feels like a step backwards. The ropiness of this PC port is a sad addition to the issues, resulting in a flawed version of an already flawed sequel.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases for PC via Steam and Epic on Thursday, 30th January – and as we recently learned, it won’t require a PSN account to play after all. With just a day to go until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 swings onto PC, Sony has shared details of its platform-enhanced features, as well as the hardware required to run it. According to credible rumors, Marvel’s Venom by Insomniac Games is doing well, and gamers suspect it could become a launch title for the PlayStation 6. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a singleplayer game, not featuring online play of any sort. The district of Queens has also been added to the game, expanding the map.

With options like raytracing and ultra-wide support, we want to give players the chance to make full use of their high-end PC gaming rigs. To cater to this, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, including options without ray-tracing, like dynamic resolution scaling. No matter how hectic a scenario gets, though, he always has a quippy one-liner ready to be expertly delivered by actor Yuri Lowenthal. That’s not to say there aren’t benefits to taking a sneaky route, though, especially when you’re playing as Miles and using his invisibility power to quietly take out enemies. There are many perch takedown possibilities offered and new toys to play with too, such as the Web Line, which allows you to create your own highwires over your enemies to prey on them from above. It’s a fun tool that allows you to reshape the tightly designed arenas into a battlefield more in your favour, and in doing so, redecorate the room with web-wrapped people piñatas. On the other hand, much like combat, stealth isn’t a far cry from the many warehouse encounters you’ll have played in the previous games, as you clear out enemies using largely the same techniques. The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless.

Graphics, 3d Sound, Dualsense

Miles assists Rio in protecting the culture and musical legacy of the city by investigating and preventing a museum robbery. Peter and Harry return to EMF in an attempt to learn more about Harry’s newfound powers, and let him safely practice. Peter and Miles oversee a prisoner transfer at the R.A.F.T., but are rudely interrupted by Kraven and his forces as they seek to capture the villains for unknown purposes. Take on brutal world-famous explorer, Kraven the Hunter; vicious reptilian creature, Lizard; a symbiote-infused Venom unlike anything you’ve ever seen before, and many more to be discovered. Mask-up and swing into action against a true rogue’s gallery of the biggest Super Villains in Marvel’s bustling roster of bad guys.

And, thankfully, it’s the only part of the story they actually did well. Using it to tell a tragic tale of two friends, instead of the more standard Eddie Brock story.
